It is an activity that parents like to be involved in because after all, it is they who are giving you the money for your dress and so it seems only fair that they should have some kind of input. The downside to involving your parents is that they will love telling you how proms in their days were more fun and the music was a lot better as well. They will tell you about the many wonderful dresses that they wore back then but on reflection, compared to nowadays those fashion choices were clearly not the best.

Things were a lot different back in the 90s and many young ladies wore short dresses for prom and that was entirely acceptable and even though there was a dress code in most schools, the teachers supervising were a bit more flexible. It Was Much Simpler

When it came to choosing and asking someone to cool to the prom with you in the 90s, things were much simpler and you just went up to someone and you just ask them if they would like to go. You either got a positive answer or a negative answer that you moved on. There is so much pressure nowadays on young people to come up with the best way to ask someone to the prom and it can involve posting something on social media and some students have even been known to hire a light airplane with a banner behind it.

Shopping Was A Little Easier

In the 90s, there were only so many prom dresses to choose from and the Internet wasn’t readily available and so this made choosing a dress a lot simpler. It did however mean that you could go to your prom and see numerous other young ladies wearing the exact same outfit as you. Proms in current times are a little better because you have so many choices and you can buy a dress online from anywhere in the world.

The Music Was Better – Or Was It?

The jury is out on this one because while there were some fantastic bands in the 90s, there are some really good bands nowadays that have sold millions of records and perform excellent music. The thing about 90s music is that there is a high likelihood that it will still be played at today’s prom dances and so that is a testament to its longevity and its popularity.

It is fair to say that those were different times back in the 90s and it is unfair to say that they were better proms back then than they were now. Pictures back then were taken with real cameras while photographs are taken now with digital smart phones and so there are a lot more of them. Nowadays, pictures can be shared of the many prom dresses that everyone was wearing and so more memories can be had in current times.
